Overcharged me, the roof leaked and I had to pay another contractor R40,000 to fix it where we discovered Chris did not install the insulation he was paid to install and used illegal roof sheets. Chris ignored my calls and refused to refund me. Was a nightmare having his messy and ill disciplined team on my property.

Feedback  Following up on a previous review of mine (refer for different elements of the same job being reviewed), I avoided putting in certain details in the fear of adding a review that would be too bad, despite it being true. However, being five months after the start of a job that was supposed to be completed in two weeks, I thought it was only right for me to add to the review. One of the parts of the job was to build a cabinet in the bathroom to enclose the washing machine and install it. The actual cabinet was designed poorly and is so close to the top of the washing machine that moving the washing machine is almost impossible, while some parts of the cabinet are already peeling or crumbling and it's been a few months. They also put on two different looking doors on the cabinet, which was supposed to be corrected within the week, but it is just short of 5 months since the beginning of the two week job and I'm still waiting for the correct door to be put on and the cabinet to be fixed. They were also tasked to install the washing machine, which proved to be a disaster. It wasn't installed properly the first time and didn't work. They then had to do it again later with different personnel. They also failed to do the basic task of removing the transport bolts despite me asking two sets of their plumbers if they were following the steps on the manual. That simple error almost broke my washing machine on use. They also scratched the machine and didn't do the plumbing properly which led to an unpleasant smell. I had to employ a different plumber at my own expense to fix the plumbing problems this team created. Overall, we have passed double digits of times Chris has promised to be there to do work or fix what he did wrong with him simply not pitching. Sometimes there's an excuse, other times nothing.

Feedback  A job that was scheduled to take two weeks (one week for work plus one week to wait for putty to dry) has taken just under two months and there are still some things not done yet and I have no idea when they will be done. Most of this time has been me trying to get him and his team to fix things that were not done properly or overlooked, which could have been sorted at the time with appropriate supervision from him. Almost every piece of work needed to be touched up or fixed. Some aspects of the job were not properly planned and led to additional costs and complications. The overall workmanship was not neat and if I wasn't there to ask for things to be done properly and/or fixed, they would have been left without the appropriate level of detail.

The workmanship was good and if there were things that I wasn't happy with, he was happy to do them over again to my satisfaction. I like the fact that he was always on time, has his own transport and always cleaned up before leaving. Chris and his team are extremely trustworthy and his prices are very affordable when compared to other builders and renovators out there.

Description  The bathroom reno entailed: Removal of old basin and old taps. Fitting new basin, mixer tap and drain fitting with existing drain pipe. Fitting new shower door. Tiling shower floor with pebbles 800x800. Replacing a shower taps with new one.

Feedback  Chris is a good guy, friendly and helpful. However, the team which assisted me needs to be supervised. Although I appreciate the effort to assist me at short notice (I booked Chris and his team on Friday and the work was carried out the following day), I am disappointed to have noticed flaws during and after the installation of my shower glass/door and basin. These are flaws which are irreversible and not expected from a professional team. During installation, the shower glass was damaged with the drill as the drill head was pressed against the glass during the drilling process. Cardboard could have come in handy here, but hey, I am counting on a professional installation. During installation of the basin, the drain pipe outlet was cut on the front of the cabinet instead of the back. I could luckily fit a drain cover over the area, so will be able to still use the shelve for packing space. After the team left, water was noticeable on the inside of the cabinet on the top shelve coming from the basin drain outlet (also installed by the team) - something that should have been picked up by doing a thorough check i. e. letting water run in basin and draining it during the installation process. All items / accesories are brand new. The provided silicone sealant was only applied to the shower sides. I had to redo the silicone on the sides of the shower (parts missed) and particularly where the frame was was mounted on the tiles as none whatsoever was applied to prevent leakage.
