Description  He attempted to install a drop ceiling bulkhead with plastering, paint and also do the electrical connections for downlights and Led strip lights.

Feedback  Overall, this was the worst contractor experience of my life. I hired Lulama based on the other reviews provided on this page, which now leaves me questioning the authenticity of. I hired Lulama to do the ceiling, and he indicated he works with an electrician that would do the electrical. He indicated the job would take him 4 days, In total, he spent 11 days at my premises Lulama promised me he would arrive to start the job on 14 December and he had transport that would be able to deliver materials on site. He kept messaging me later arrivals times and arrived late. He did not have transport and then told me his transport let him down. I then had to arrange to get the materials delivered on site myself. 1 day was wasted as a result of this. At this stage, I should have realised that he was not trustworthy, and it would have saved me a lot of hassle Since he does not have transport he does not come with a lot of tools or he doesn't own them. He had to borrow ladders from neighbours when the job required painting. Lulama claims to have a team of 6 on his profile. He worked with one person on my job, who always arrived later than him. He promised to complete the job within 4 days. On the 3rd day, his partner disappeared for half a day to give a quote for another job. Throughout the job, he kept promising revised dates for completion of the work which he never met. In fact the work was never completed when he eventually left. Lulama does not seem to have any knowhow of how to plan a job, and what materials he needs. On day 1 he gave me a list of materials. I had to then make another 4 trips to the hardware to get materials as he does not know how to plan for all the materials that he will need to do a job properly. As an example, my 3rd trip to the hardware was because he asked for 12 meters of cabling. I got him 20 meters and then he indicated I needed a further 30 meters, so it was not small overruns. After about a week, his "electrician" partner Ben, who was not qualified, could not figure out how to do the wiring and called in his father Sidwell who was actually an electrician to assist. Sidwell indicated that they had made mistakes, it was unsafe and I should pay him R700 to buy materials and he would resolve the issue. I paid Sidwell these funds, he dropped off some cabling, but never returned to resolve the issue. When I phoned him, he indicated he had explained to Lulamas partner Ben how to resolve the matter. After 2 weeks, Lulama finally admitted he could not do the electrical and I could call in someone else. I paid a qualified electrician a further R1500 to finish the job. The Electrician Jean was very upset with the quality of the work done and indicated it was unsafe and dangerous. He managed to correctly wire the points in half a day, compared to the 2 weeks that Lulama and Ben spent trying to figure it out. I needed to constantly supervise the work due to the slow pace and spent countless hours watching him and Ben attempt to complete the job. With regards to the quality of the work done, it was terrible. The bulkheads were extremlely crooked, and jagged and the painting was done when there were cracks in the wall that needed to be filled. I brought in a replacement painter from Kandua to fix the job and he stated that the quality of the work was the worst he had ever seen in his life. The initial material that I purchased was wasted by Lulama. I had to spend R3000 on the replacement painter to re-rhinolite and plaster, to make the bulkhead straight, and to paint the walls and bulkhead. I then had to spend a further R1800 to purchase additional Rhinollite, Primer and Paint materials. Towards the end of the job, Lulama also was rude and sarcastic. When I pointed out to him the terrible paintwork with clear indentations, and asked him if was happy with the quality he stated he felt it was 100%. I brought in the replacement electrician and painter on the 29 December 2018. Lulalma at this stage could realise that he could not do the job satisfactorily and had indicated to me I could get in someone else to recitfy his errors and deduct from the balance. owed to him. Lulama discussed with the painter to rectify some of his mistakes for an additional fee from the amount due to him. At this stage, I indicated to Lulama that his services were no longer required. I had paid him and his team about R3300 and he had wasted thousands of Rands in materials. I did not pay Lulama the balace for the work. I indicated to him I would wait for the painter to finished rectifying his mistakes and assess the total cost. The replacement painter indicated to me that Lulalma had lied to me as the majority of the work that needed recitifying was not discussed with him by Lulalma, and hence I needed to pay R3000 to correct all the issues. Overall, as indicated above, this was the worst experience of my life, I had to spend an additional R6300 (R1500 on an electrician, R3000 on a plasterer/ painter, and R1800 on materials) over and above the amount that I paid to Lulama. I wasted countless hours trying to get him to do the right thing, and I wish I had trusted my instincts and never hired him in the first place. I also feel let down by Kandua as I hired him through this site. I can give Kandua contact details of the replacement contractors who I hired who can verify the sub-standard work done,.
