Why should you consider furniture restoration?

  • Choice - you get to choose exactly what you want. The exact shade, fabric, colours and so on. When you head to a furniture shop it is not often that you will find exactly what you like.
  • Quality - chances are you bought this piece of furniture a while ago, and it has aged well due to its quality. Now the fabric is old and faded, maybe frayed. With a quality furniture piece you can easily restore it to make it appear brand new, without the expense of a brand new piece.
  • Comfort - you know the furniture piece is comfortable, you have had it for years, and once restored, you don’t need to compromise on comfort.
  • Value - chances are it is a good piece of furniture, and once restored you are only adding to its value, and charm.
  • Saving - it will save you money. Instead of buying a whole new piece, you are able to just spend on the fabric and labour.

Why you should hire a professional

  • Professional finish - a professional knows exactly how to work with the furniture piece to achieve a smooth and aesthetically pleasing outcome. Your piece will probably look even better than prior to the furniture restoration.
  • Protect valuable furniture - a professional will use their expertise when working with a piece of furniture. They will know how to avoid scratching or chipping the wood, or ruining the intrinsic design that makes the piece so valuable.
  • Perfect match - a professional is properly trained to see the bigger picture. They will look at the piece and know exactly how they can perfect the furniture restoration process.

Shelton once covered my couches for me. The sofas were torn as they were starting to get old plus I have kids in the house. Shelton was able to cover the whole sofa with brand-new materials and he did the work in a short amount of time because Shelton was very punctual. The work was elegant because the couches looked neat and there was no sign of mistakes anywhere on the sofas. The prices were acceptable.

There is one chair in particular that I would like to be fixed. It seems it is a simple job of regluing the legs to the base. There are other chairs that we potentially want fixed that needs to be fixed in place better.

I have a large round yellowwood and blackwood dinning room table thats now over 40 years old. Its 6 foot in diameter and sits on a central blackwood base that has 3 legs off the central base (to support the table) One of the 3 legs has given way. The table is upside down on the dinning room floor. It may be easiest to fix it here on site. A friend with carpentry skills attempted a gluing repair about 2 years ago and it hasnt held. My thought is that it needs some dowels (spelling) drilled in to secure it due to the great weight of the table.
