Factors to consider when hiring a roof waterproof specialist?

  • Experience - Hire a roof waterproofing company that has highly trained, and experienced specialists.
  • Reliability - Make sure the roof waterproofing specialist that you hire are reliable and able to work around your busy schedule.
  • Reputation - Read customer reviews and testimonials of potential roof waterproofing services.
  • Cost - Don’t hire a roof waterproofing company based on price alone. Sometime the cheapest waterrproofing quote can end up costing you more money in the long run.

Benefits Of Waterproofing Roofs

  • If installed correctly and properly maintained roof waterproofing can last for more than 10 years.
  • Roof waterproofing doesn’t fade and deteriorates as fast as standard roof paints do.
  • Roof waterproofing does split or crack or peel during extreme hot or cold weather like traditional roof paints do.
  • With properly installed roof waterproofing you reduce the chances of mould growing on roofs.
  • The waterproofing applied to roofs is a liquid rubber coating which can reduce the amount of dust that enters the home through the roof space.
  • These days, the rubber coating for roof waterproofing is available in different colours so homeowners have more of a choice as to what they want this to look like.

I had a contractor perform waterproofing in 2019. My bedroom flooded with the rain on Monday (28/6/21). I complained to the contractor as I understood waterproofing should last a good 3-5 years... that is my understanding. He said his waterproofing job is guaranteed for 1 year max. So, I also require a report/asessment on this job to take this dispute further as I feel it is unfair.

Regarding the ongoing problems with the roof at number Road, Plumstead, Cape Town. After another inspection of the roof, it seems to be in bad shape. All the rafters and support beams are heavily soaked after the bad rains we have experienced. The tiles are letting in daylight all over the roof space, there is no membrane between the roof and tiles. Water is leaking in in various places due to the heavy winds blowing the rain up and along the roof, thus forcing the rain to be pushed through the numerous gaping gaps all over the roof. The roof has been patched up recently but does not appear to solve any of the problems. My view is the whole roof needs to be sealed to stop the rain from entering the roof space thus preventing any further damage which in the long term is going to cause very expensive and extensive damage.
