Description  Attempted to fix our Ellie’s generator

Feedback  Our 6.5KVA Ellies generator was only producing 2KW. Roy stripped the machine and quoted us R1400 to fix it. He fitted a new AVR the next day and as the parts cost more than expected he charged us R1850. As a test we tried to run two kettles (about 3.8KW). The generator didn’t cope so Roy increased the throttle. This time it passed the test and Roy left. The next day I ran the test again but noticed that it was producing electricity at 72Hz and not 50Hz. It also sounded like it might be over-revving. We asked another technician for a second opinion. He said that 72Hz is bad for appliances. He slowed the engine down so that it was working at 50Hz, but then it could no longer cope with more than one kettle. Back to where we started, except the frequency dropped to 34Hz when the generator was under load. The new technician suspects that the wrong AVR had been fitted. We contacted Roy and explained the problem. He told us when he would return but never pitched. We contacted him again to set a new date, but again he did not pitch. I am asking the new technician to fix this mess.

Feedback  I was very happy with the service that I received from Roy. at first I had a blocked drain and later engaged him to fix my geyser by fitting a blanket and installing pipes. When he fixed my drain it was so quick but when he came to fix the geyser he took longer because he' was battling to find the things he was looking for. he cleaned after his work and his prices are very good. I will definitely recommend him.
