Is it possible to install an alarm system without linking it to any service provider? I am an estate agent and one of the conditions of sale is that I need to install an alarm system. I am willing to pay for it myself based on price. Is this possible?

Good day, I am one of the Trustees on my Homeowners Association (Chester Mews) in Lakeside (near Muizenberg, Cape Town). We are interested in having our pedestrian gate (next to our motorised driveway gate) revamped with a new lock, as the current one is faulty, as well as a weighted automatic closing option. We are looking to either explore the option of having the pedestrian gate open with a remote or with a new key. We are also looking at ensuring our motorised driveway gate has a backup battery in place during loadshedding, as currently it stays open if there is no power.
