South African homeowners are considering gas in their homes as a result of Increasing costs in electricity. Gas is more affordable, more effective, and sometimes even better for the environment. However, are you aware of the cost of gas installation in South Africa?
What costs are commonly excluded in a gas installation in South Africa?
- The electrical connection to the gas appliance.
- The cut out to where the hob or gas stove fits into the countertop.
- Any chasing or digging of trenches will need to be arranged prior to the installation.
- This price would not include the gas cylinder. Gas cylinders can be purchased and exchanged from our partners at Leroy Merlin. When you initially purchase a gas cylinder from any of the aforementioned sources, you are required to pay a one-time deposit for both the gas and the cylinder itself. You only pay for the gas when you return the cylinder for a refill; the deposit is not refunded.
Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
On completion of the installation, the installer must issue the homeowner with a CoC which indicates that the gas installation is compliant with the relevant regulations and South African National Safety (SANS) Standards. This is particularly important because this document will be required should the homeowner make a claim from their insurer. The cost of the staircase will be greatly impacted by the material selection, which can include steel, concrete, wood, or a mix of these. Exotic or high-end materials will cost extra.
