I have a slightly strange electrical problem, which arises from the provision of battery/inverter/PV backup. The cottage at 10 Belair Drive Constantia has recently been connected to the new 12 kW hybrid inverter and 20 kWh LiFePO4 battery system at the main house, by an underground power cable. My idea was that all lights and 15-amp power points in the cottage would be supported during load-shedding; but not the electric geyser, electric oven, and underfloor heating. The original distribution board has been retained in the cottage, and a new subsidiary DB installed with circuit breakers for all lights and for supported power-points. This is powered by a cable connecting to the inverter at the main house. What I had not realised is that the underfloor heating in the cottage shares the cabling to many of the 15-amp power points. Hence the conversion that has been undertaken is unsatisfactory, in that all the power-points that share cabling with underfloor heating elements have not been connected to the subsidiary DB and are not supported during load-shedding. The simple solution would be to disconnect the underfloor heating (probably at the on-off wall switches) and add another circuit breaker on the subsidiary DB, to support at least those power points in the sitting-room and kitchen.

We have a circuit pump linked to geyser (see pic) but it beeps incessantly and seems to have stopped working. Also have LED lights on rod (no pic) on dual switches that has stopped turning on.

Replace old halogen downlights with LED lights safe under insulation. Around 27 lights, with three double switch rooms and three dimmer switches across 8 rooms
