Have you ever walked into a room and just felt happy? Or calm?
Scientists claim that colours influence us on a mental, physical and emotional level. We share some mood-boosting shades for you to consider.
Sense of calm
If you want to encourage sleep or a general sense of calm then it’s time to turn to blue. A 2018 study found that softer shades of blue worked the best to promote sleep, followed by green. Unsurprisingly, the worst colour for sleep was red, followed by orange and yellow.
Make a statement
In rooms where you want to get conversations going, or inject whoever enters it with some energy then warm colours are best. Warm colours (like burnt orange, amber, or peach) will bring fun and intimacy into a space. Be wary as they can be overwhelming if applied too generously.
Boost your mental state
Spending time outside or even looking at an image of nature has been found to be one of the most reliable ways to improve your emotional state. So why not try painting your walls a color reminiscent of the great outdoors? Think olive, turquoise, aloe, soft browns, grey, and beiges.
Brighten your day
Kitchens are great rooms to paint yellow as it brightens your mood and increases your energy – something we usually all need in the morning as we make our way to the kettle. Yellow can catch the sunlight and leave you with an uplifting feeling of joy and liveliness. Pastel colours like peach, light pink or lilac can also have an uplifting effect on your mood.
